The Plan
We will perform our first concert on November 1st 2011, 8pm at Symphony Space, NYC. All profits will go to our next 2 concerts in Harare Zimbabwe on February 3rd 2012, and Cape Town South Africa, on February 5th 2012. All profits from the 2 concerts in Africa will go to the orphans and underprivileged children in Zimbabwe.

Goals

  • In NYC to work with PAL to offer 700 children the opportunity to attend an afternoon performance of the "Music For Orphans NYC"show at Symphony Space at 5pm on November 1st 2011.
  • To give a six-session workshop at the PAL Centers in NYC on producing a show. The workshop will take place leading up to November 1st 2011. Between 12 and 15 children will be able to perform a 5 minute piece at the beginning of the afternoon performance at 5pm on November 1st in Symphony Space, NYC.
  • In Zimbabwe, to perform in local schools and orphanages during the days leading up to the main concerts in February 2012
  • In Zimbabwe and South Africa to offer orphans and underprivileged children an opportunity to attend concerts of the highest international level for free
  • To raise funds to start a strings program in "Pakare Paye", Oliver Mtukudzi's Music Academy in Harare and to support the N.S.F.C Salvation Army Guruve project in Zimbabwe. http://www.tukumusik.com/news/88-new-board-new-vision-for-pakare-paye.html

Written and composed by Chaka Ngwenya, this song is sung in Shona (Zimbabwe) and English. It seeks to offer comfort to orphans, and bring awareness to the issues millions of children face today.
